EFB 102 and 104: General Formatting Tips

Overall Lab Formatting

The format of our laboratory reports will be similar to that of a research paper in a scientific journal.  In general, this format includes an introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions and citation of all literature that was referenced in the text.  Follow these guidelines when preparing laboratory reports for this class.

Each section should be clearly labeled (e.g., bold-faced and/or underlined). Please type your reports using a 12-pt font.  To help facilitate written feedback from your instructor, please maintain a 1” margin and double space between lines.  Feel free to write in the first-person (i.e., you may write, “I did this…” or “I found that…”).

Citations Tips!

Citations should follow APA format, but consistency (same citation style used throughout) is the most important thing.
