Welcome!

Welcome to the research guide for Biology 102 and 104.  Here you will find information and links to biology resources useful for research and a comprehensive guide for writing lab reports.  Please use the tabs above to navigate the guide.

General Background for BIO 102 Lab 1

The first lab focuses on biodiversity in primary forests vs secondary forests. This lab measured four different factors that could support differences in biodiversity between the forests. These factors include ground unevenness, depth of the organic soil layer, pH of the soil, and amount of mycorrhizal root tips. Each student focused on one of these factors and will have one of their hypotheses making a statement about their specific factor. However, in the methods and discussion section, students should explain the procedures for all four factors and discuss conclusions drawn from students with the three other factors your student did not measure.
