For some projects, you may want more control over your media project than the basic ways we shared can offer. Here are some tools that offer much more power and are freely available and surprisingly easy to use.

Screencasting with OBS

Streamlabs OBS is powerful free software designed for streaming games on services like Twitch and Youtube. You can also use it to compose and create dynamic screencast videos, where you can smoothly move between different scenes, include your webcam and other media in your composition.

Editing Video

Sometimes you need to make changes to your video before your can publish it. Video editing software can be somewhat intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. You don't need to know all the features of a program in order to make simple edits to your clips, include music and publish a project. 

For those with Macintosh computers, an excellent and easy-to-use video editing program is Apple's iMovie, available free here: https://www.apple.com/imovie/

For Windows users, a free video editor called kdenlive is available that offers a full suite of editing tools.
