SUNY ESF Throwback Thursdays: August Throwback Thursdays

August 25, 2016 SUNY ESF and the NYS Fair

Today is the first day of the New York State Fair. The NYS Fair started in 1841 with an attendance of 10,000 to 15,000 people. In 2015 the NYS Fair attendance was 908,147. You can learn more about the NYS Fair and its rich history here -  http://nysfair.ny.gov/about/fair-history/

In 1913 SUNY ESF had our first exhibit at the fair. The exhibit was “How to Creosote Fenceposts”. Throughout the years SUNY ESF has had some wonderful exhibits at the fair and our SUNY ESF Archives has a collection of historic photographs documenting ESF’s past exhibits and presence at the fair. Moon Library currently has several exhibits that show the history of ESF at the Fair. If you are on campus be sure to check them out.
